Alex’s Story

Pictured above is Brittany Irish, TIGER actor, who portrays Alex in middle and high school educational theatre presentations. Alex Berry, now 26 years old, in recovery from heroin addiction conducts a live Q&A on his life’s journey with the students.

In the spring of 2015, CADY and the Plymouth State University TIGER Program (Theatre Integrating Guidance, Education, and Responsibility) launched an exciting collaboration called, Alex’s Story. Alex’s Story is the real-life account of a NH youth’s struggle with drug use, heroin addiction, and recovery. We understand that no one, especially teens, likes to be lectured to, so we developed an innovative, peer-to-peer educational model utilizing storytelling to raise awareness on the risks of substance misuse and addiction. Alex’s Story is empowering high school students with fact-based information to avoid risky behaviors and make smart, healthy choices. The performance is followed by a powerful question and answer session with Alex.
